My Take On Coastal Grandma Style! (CGS)πŸ€—πŸ’‹πŸ’‹

February 8, 2023

Why Coastal Grandma?

Okay, well I do live on the east coast of Australia, and I’m certainly old enough and then some to be a Grandma, and in all honesty, my life is fairly low key and casual these days – no more business meetings and conservative, intense gatherings – so I thought it was time to give this simple and elegant aesthetic a go .. but of course I’m doing it my way!

On that notion of wearing a particular style, don’t be intimidated, rather try to investigate the elements of the style, check out what’s in your own wardrobe and make it work for you. Keep your confidence and choose not only what works for you but what makes you feel happy and comfortable and don’t worry about what other people have to say about you and your outfits.

Embracing the blues .. oh and the neutrals too!

The colours of the coastal grandma style are soft and subtle … interestingly I had a treatment from an alternate practitioner who said that according to Ayurvedic practice my energy was a bit too hot and that if I wanted to cool it down then wear more blues and greens rather than the reds and oranges and hot pinks I so frequently reach for!

So this is kind of the result!

I’ve been reluctant to get in to the cropped wide leg pant trend because being only 5’2”I’m vertically challenged but yet here I stand – and I really love it, especially with these cute little sneakers!

Talk about comfortable! I felt completely relaxed – almost too relaxed, like I was hanging around on the lounge at home instead of being out in the big, wide, wonderful world! (We’d gone for a drive down the coast into Victoria and had lunch in a cute out of the way pub..) 🀣🀣

I’ve added the touch of boho with my fringed bag – truly how gorgeous is the turquoise stone? I’m really here for turquoise this year!

I’m not sure, but maybe the off the shoulder top errs more towards boho as well but either way I’m calling it CGS!

But then I did mention the blues!

And here they are:

Sporting another off-the-shoulder top but this time paired with sone cute and comfy glam jogger pants … what with the sweet sparkly, sequin details on the pants and the heels this is a more dressed up version of CGS.

Since I wore this outfit I’ve actually invested in a beautiful handmade necklace with all the right stones crystals to balance my energy (I’m taking all the help I can get!), which you can see in the following pics:

The full bishop sleeves and the pointy flats elevate this look to one of total comfort and as I have lymphodoema after breast cancer treatment so love the extra space these wider sleeves provide!

Oh and some more evidence of my love of turquoise, although there’s a bit of orange in amongst this as well:

And finally, neutral love for CGS!

I love this suit and have worn it together and as separates multiple times over the summer:

So what to you think of my take on the Coastal Grandma Style? I’d do love to hear your thoughts!

Thank you for visiting my little corner of the web and remember you can catch up with me on my Instagram @donna.walmsley101 and also my YouTube and I’ve even taken a little foray into TikTok!

Sending my love to you wherever you are in this fabulous world!

What fabulous outfits Donna! Beautiful in blues. Adore the fringed bag with turquoise, and the jeans with floral embroidery. The suit in cream looks so cool and comfortable. I’ve missed your blog! x

Aww! Thank you so much, Gail, you’ve made my week! I’ve really lacked confidence with my blog, didn’t feel I had much to offer and I don’t handle the technology of it at all well but I just felt like writing last week and two posts came together … I will have to join some linkups if I can remember how lol!! Thanks for coming in, Gail! πŸ§šβ€β™€οΈβ€οΈπŸ
