Pretty In Boho Blush Pink

I spied this dress just before Christmas at a cute boutique, Seaside Trader in the local seaside town of Merimbula and so you can imagine how happy I was when I was given it as a surprise for Christmas!

Perfect Cover-up!

Compared to recent years, this has been a very cool and mild summer, so a maxi dress suits very well as it is versatile and comfortable.

I’m fairly short but this isn’t the first or only maxi I’ve invested in this summer and I find that this particular dress, being of one colour, doesn’t overwhelm me. The usable wooden buttons and embroidery in a vertical line down the front of the dress contributes to the sense of height.

Consuming Passion

I’ve reduced the number of posts I make on Instagram, and here as well, because most of my clothing is not new and has been worn multiple times and also my philosophy is not to create more waste than is necessary, to purchase mindfully and to extend my imagination by making lots of different looks and outfits out of old, familiar pieces.

Since I’ve retired from a lifetime in Education, (much more on this in a following post), having reached a senior executive level, it’s strange not to need to dress decently and stylishly every day. Much of my wardrobe has been donated to close family and charity and now I have a more relaxed wardrobe that suits my lifestyle BUT I still like to look somewhat put together!

With this dress I changed the shoes, bag, hair and accessories and the look is now quite different. On Christmas Day – the outfit on the right – it was quite cold so I used my crazy fuchsia stole and paired it with the same colour shoes, bag and lippy and added a cute tan leather belt … I should’ve sized down in the dress but having it a bit roomy is a look in and of itself.

The outfit on the left is quite different with the blush headscarf, hippy hair, groovy bag, (which was a handmade gift for my birthday, just after Christmas, from my daughter and her wife), and the pink animal combo shoes.

I like both looks and will probably change it up yet again the next time I wear this dress – I’d love to know if you like to wear your clothing in different ways so if you have a tried and true look for various pieces.
