Back In Black!😱🤗🥰

July 9, 2020

Saturday Night Black..

It was the first time we’d made it back to our favourite restaurant, Ritzy’s in the sweet beachside town of Merimbula, since C-19 has hit our fair shores and I was very excited because it’s a little place where the food is delicious and the atmosphere is always pleasant.

Since the pandemic has hit I have tended to buy more pretty things online and through people I know and follow on Instagram – which was not my habit in the past – and this outfit is one of the things I’ve welcomed to my wardrobe.

How gorgeous is the shape and style of this skirt? I just love the way it falls and the pocket too!

It’s All Who You Know!!

I’ve mentioned before that I like to support small businesses and that I like to have a personal and comfortable experience when I shop. I’ve also talked ad nauseum about my preference for eclectic style – it fits with my sense of diversity and creativity.

It wasn’t a surprise, therefore, that I thought I would give these garments a try when they happened across my Instagram feed.

I’ve been an avid follower of Claudine of @edgy_50 since I began instagram a couple of years ago, and she and her friend have recently begun fulfilling a lifelong dream to design and make select pieces of clothing here in Australia. I am happy to support her business for such cool and edgy looks as the skirt and top shown here.

Fabric and Fit!

Both the skirt and the top are made from a very heavy, high quality – with some stretch – ponte. There are no zips or buttons and the skirt has a nice, wide waistband that can be worn high in he waist or lower on the hips.

I’ve said before that I’m not the tallest person around so I’m wearing the skirt hitched fairly high on my waist and the boxy top I have cinched in with a medium sized belt – otherwise it would’ve swamped me.

I needed to keep warm so I wore my fishnet bodystocking underneath and gloves, which I usually keep for my steampunk costumes, which you can see more of here Steampunk

The Best Of Intentions and Getting Rid of What No Longer Serves…

The last few years, let alone the last few months, have been quite the challenge for me in a number of areas of my life. My work area, in particular, has caused me much sadness and pain, although it has all been for the best and a wonderful life lesson – but it no longer serves me.

I have put it out to the universe that I want very much to serve – as I always did in my previous work life, which was so rewarding in so many ways, when the ego of others was not involved.

I refuse to lose heart and see a very different path for me and hope that I can manifest a rewarding and positive future where I can help others to empower themselves through their clothing choices which need not be expensive or the latest trend, but true to themselves and their authentic being. I’m putting this out there and we shall see what comes!!

It was a cool winter’s evening when we went out to dinner so I cosied up with my cape – another Australian made garment which was in keeping with the Japanese bent of the outfit, I felt.

I chucked on my gold earrings, bangle, belt and booties and my little bag from the op- shop and I was good to go!!

Thank you so much for joining me in my little corner of the web, I so appreciate each and every one of you and hope that you leave this space a bit better than when you came here as I always do after reading your lovely comments!

Be still my heart, dear Donna. What a stunningly chic, elegant and incredibly lovely ensemble. The cape is a stunning finishing note on a look that already made me gasp and swoon so deeply, you might just have heard me all the way to Australia. 🙂
