Burgundy, Wine and Maroon! 🧚🏻♀️💋🤗
The events transpiring across the world at the moment are so worrying and grave that it feels wrong to be showing photos of clothing and concerning myself with fashion at such a time. ‘Black Lives Matter’ is beyond a slogan and is a value I strongly hold dear. God knows we have multiple problems here with the way our indigenous people are treated and it’s well beyond time for it to be addressed.
The outfits that I am showing here today have been worn in the last couple of weeks as restrictions have relaxed here in Australia as our low rate of COVID-19 continues.
Even though we are allowed to get out and about more I’ve tended to remain a recluse but anyway I have been out for some appointments and found myself gravitating towards beautiful burgundy, wine and maroon – I find them perfect for autumn and winter looks giving a cosy, snug feel to an outfit.

For both of these looks I have shopped my wardrobe although this dress is a pre-loved dress recently purchased.
As I’ve said in previous posts I have really moved to wearing more pre-loved fashion in an attempt to be more sustainable.
Made from a heavy cotton, this three-quarter sleeve dress is very comfortable to wear with a full, pleated skirt and a darted bodice.

I added the veggie patent shoes and a cute wicker bag I picked up from an op-shop together with my birdie print jacket, statement belt, sunnies and necklace to complete the look.

Winter Floral Fun!!
We always think of florals as being a spring and summer print but it can work just as well as a feminine winter look when the florals are on a dark background.

In the second outfit I’ve paired this dress from last year with a nice, long, cosy cardigan
I’ve paired this dress with a pale pink long cardigan on other occasions but I have to say that the rich, dark maroon is the better option!
The burgundy floral tights paired perfectly with my favourite high-heeled booties and I loved the beret with it, but still needed my sunnies because although it’s getting cooler here, it’s usually sunny and bright!
Inspiration and Dark Times…
I started this blog to give women who had a few runs on the board some inspiration to dress outside the box and take some risks and embrace their bodies where they are in their present lives.
In amongst that I wish to share some of the thoughts I have on “life, the universe and everything” and the values I hold on a range of things.
I’m not sure that I’m communicating that so well.
Thank you for joining me in my little corner of the web and I wish you all love, positivity and kindness in these volatile and difficult times!

June 3, 2020 at 1:33 pmIndeed, black lives matter as do ALL LIVES.
I must say, I thoroughly adore the rich rose colors of your attire, and the most lovely purse. You are always in beautiful fashion, Donna! A joy to see such lovely colors come across this platform. You wear them exquisitely. 👗 👛 🧤

June 4, 2020 at 1:46 amYou’re very kind in your comments, Tamara – and although all lives matter the point is that here our indigenous people seem to matter less than others as it seems elsewhere and this is what needs to change. In our case we have problems with the police being overly aggressive and it’s just not necessary here and it’s not a part of our culture I want to continue. In my previous life I worked with indigenous young people and what they experienced was totally wrong … hope things are going well for you and your family!!

June 8, 2020 at 1:23 pmLove this outfit. My favourite part of this look are the pantyhose and the sunglasses. I’m actually going to buy a pair that look like yours for the summer. The colour of your pantyhose are so unique and you pull it of so well.
Wishing you the best!
