Knit-Dresses to go!!

I love cosy, soft knit dresses and I have quite a collection of them that I have acquired over the years.
I’ve owned a couple of these three for ten years or so and they are not the latest fashion – but they fit with my eclectic style and I always feel comfortable and neat in them. In my previous life I may have worn the animal print one to work with opaque tights and a simple black blazer but I wouldn’t consider the other dresses work appropriate but ideal for an evening out or for the weekend.
You could wear such dresses with the trend of runners, but this is just not a trend I have embraced, although I make no judgement on those who love to wear them – live and let live is my philosophy.

It seems I love to add belts to all my knit dresses!! I also enjoyed the pops of red in the gloves, lipstick and lining of the cape to give the outfit a bit of oomph.
Relaxing Social Distancing!!
The numbers of people infected by COVID-19 in our state of New South Wales, Australia have reduced to under 10 a day. The national death rate total is 93 leading to social distancing restrictions being slightly eased and two people can visit in each other’s homes, amongst other measures.
It was a chilly day when we went to our next door neighbours place, 4 or 5 kilometres away, for lunch and I felt the knit dress was the perfect option. This was the first time I’d left the property since the beginning of March and I’m not going to lie that it felt very strange, in a good way…

I love this fabulous eighties fringe jacket and fishnet stockings to edge up my look!! This dress has a gorgeous rolled collar and I like the detail on the cuffs!

I felt the look came together with the tulle skirt underneath, fishnet stockings and fingerless gloves as well as the double belt detail. I always find this a very warm, heavy knit dress and the mesh details on the bodice and sleeves set it apart from any others in my wardrobe. There’s so many different types of knit dresses with so many cute details, that over the years I’ve found it hard to resist picking up yet another one!

Looks like my scarecrow – Russell (scare- Crowe) – approves!!
We’ve had a real cold snap with temperatures not much above 12°C or 14°C and thus a comfy knit dress is perfect!!

Thank you for joining me in my little corner of the web, and wherever you are reading this from, I hope that things are getting better and wish you all the very best.

May 3, 2020 at 10:42 pmYou look great, Donna! I would not have known those dresses were not current if you hadn’t said anything!
Glad to hear things are getting better where you are and social distancing rules are easing up. Things are much better here than they were. We’re down to about 1000 new cases a day and about 300 deaths per day which is still horrible but so much better, relatively speaking, than it was just a month ago.
Restrictions have not yet eased up in New York but people are beginning to break them a little bit. And by a little bit I mean a lot. This was the first really beautiful warm weekend and people were out walking and in parks and in groups too close together not all wearing masks…I hope this does not set the trend back towards where it was.
Continue to be safe and well!

May 4, 2020 at 2:18 amThank you for your newsy and informative comment, Bettye, and I’m so pleased that numbers are starting to come down over there!
This thing is a real scourge and even though we’ve had such low infection rates and deaths there has been a shocking impact on our economy with many people losing their jobs and being thrown into the unknown – it’s all really making us question our existing paradigms..
again thank you for your support and I always find your entertaining and intelligent writing an inspiration and I love your attitude to fashion and life in general,

May 9, 2020 at 7:00 pmI’m so glad that we sorted the site issue – I just wonder why it keeps going back to the old one. I do love the knit dresses but these are a soft yarn and aren’t scratchy because I can’t stand itchy wool!! You’re very kind to say you like them, Diane – thank you!! Hope all is well with you and the family! 🧚🏻♀️❤️🐝

May 9, 2020 at 12:42 pmThat is such incredibly positive, optimism fostering news regarding the drop in cases and relaxed isolation rules in your corner of Australia. May these trends only continue to improve all the more with each passing day. While, almost miraculously I’d say given the fairly big (by Cnd standards) population of our province, BC has had remarkably few deaths in relation to our total officially documented C-19 case count so far. Still, both cases and, tragically, fatalities continue to grow by the day, so we’re at the point of scaling back on safety measures here yet.
On a more upbeat note, each of this chic ensembles is absolutely beautiful and so wonderfully stylish. I love a great knit dress, too – especially ones in timeless shades of grey and black like these. So versatile, so classic and sooo lovely!
Thinking of you, my dear friend, and hoping that you guys have an immensely safe, positive, cozy weekend.
Big hugs,

May 9, 2020 at 7:04 pmThank you so much dear Autumn! The weather here is perfect for Mother’s Day and has been Indian summer in the mid-20’s which is nice while it lasts! My knit dresses are real favourites at this time, I must say, and yes it is so positive that things are improving little by little in relation to C-19 … although the world over has a long way to go!! Enjoy your weekend too! 🧚🏻♀️❤️🐝
