Retro and Sustainable Dressing … πŸ™€πŸ™ŒπŸ’―

April 26, 2020

Love Quality Timelessness!!

I’ve always loved and appreciated beautiful things from the past and my home is full of many pre-loved pieces of furniture, rugs and bits and bobs.

This burgundy leather chair belonged to my partner’s father and the other pieces, including the medieval armour from my many days as a History teacher, have been acquired here and there over many years!!

It follows that I would also love to see such love of the qualities of the past translated into many of my clothing choices!

As a person who cares about the future of the planet and who likes to watch their budget, I’m very aware of the sustainability aspect of buying second hand clothing.

I’m wearing my tulle skirt underneath, but unfortunately it’s not easily seen although was obvious when I walked …

This 1980’s dress is in perfect condition and the fit is all that I could possibly wish for to celebrate a nice dinner at home to commemorate ANZAC Day, remembering the fallen soldiers from the Australian New Zealand Army Corps in past conflicts – a time where we may have attended the local war memorial to engage with community and pay respects, of course, with COVID-19 it was a stay at home situation – and it’s grateful I am to those that have sacrificed so much, that I may have a home to feel safe in and to enjoy!

The colours and print of this dress are beautiful and vibrant and are ideal for the autumn season that is upon us in the Southern Hemisphere, and a button down dress is always versatile.

How pretty is this little necktie and the coloured buttons? Very pretty!!

Fine Fitting and Sweet Details!

I have been staggered that a dress that was actually home-made over thirty years ago is such a fabulous fit on me – the waist is cinched and comfortable and there is plenty of room across the shoulders.

Although I am petite I have a strong build, having developed broad shoulders from years of swimming every morning before school, lifting weights and enjoying the occasional bout of push-ups so it’s great that the style of this dress gives plenty of room for movement and that the sleeves are comfy on my lymphodoema!

I added my cute suede booties, purple earrings and sexy fishnets and lingerie so I could feel great from the inside out – I feel a sexy lingerie post on its way very soon!!

Caramel nut tart …
Classic ANZAC Biscuits, made to a recipe for a biscuit that was sent to Australian and New Zealand servicemen at the war fronts …
Fur-babies, Loki and Odin …

Thank you for joining me in my little corner of the web and I hope you are going along ok during this very tricky time!!

Great find and styling of the dress. The color looks great on you. The cats are so cute.

Oh thank you, Nicole – always so kind in your comments!! What was good was that I picked this dress up from Instagram and I hadn’t even tried it on … I rarely buy from online because I’m a bit fussy but this really worked and so I’m very pleased!! Hope things are going ok with you – I wouldn’t try injecting with disinfectant… πŸ™€πŸ§šπŸ»β€β™€οΈβ€οΈπŸ

This dress is a 1980s fashion dream. From the chic neck detailing to the dreamy, elegant colours to the feminine cut. I’m wishing I could hop in the time machine to the decade that gave me life and pick up one of my own (or, more realistically find a copy online these days). The hues at work here are sublime with your colouring and really do feel like a sartorial celebration of fall’s glorious return.

Thank you dear Autumn!! I knew you would be a little β€œjealous” as we delve into our autumn here – just a little!! Hehehe!! And I picked up a couple of other cute things from another second hand shop I follow on Instagram from the era and I’m so happy with them – will send you pics on my Instagram. I just love valuing things from the past, wondering about who made them and what they were like and so on!! I hope things are going along well for you two!!

Such a great find! I love buying second hand and tend to find a lot of gems! Poshmark and our local consignment shop are two of my favorite places to do so <3
