Classic Jeans, White Shirt and Blazer… Oh, and Steampunk too!!😱🧐😘

April 13, 2020
Waistcoat, blazer, sunnies and shoes have been in my wardrobe for years and the little bag was discovered at a local op-shop!

Not My Usual Schtick!

Writing to you in the midst of this COVID-19 pandemic still seems so surreal. I hope that all who pass this way are well and safe.

It’s strange not being able to leave the house – I’m in the “at risk group” so I don’t even get to go the supermarket!!

It hasn’t stopped me from making an effort to dress, do my hair and pop some lippy on and take a few pics – before a nice cheese toasty for lunch!

It isn’t often you will see me in jeans … so there’s another of the seven signs of the apocalypse…

Animal print’s a neutral, isn’t it??
You can see the raised garden beds where we have been establishing our vegetables..

This was a particularly nice autumn day and truth to tell I was probably a bit too warm in this many layers but I felt like seeing if I could pull together a look that would satisfy me.

The cut of this blazer is so feminine and detailed and I love the peplum to emphasise the waist, the ribbon detail that runs around the jacket, the semi-puffed shoulder and roll-back cuffs.

I kept it simple with high waisted dark wash denim skinny jeans but added a crisp, white shirt and an old black, satin lapel waist coat under the jacket.

I felt the neutral animal print heels and cute little bag gave the outfit the right amount of edge, along with the big furry black earrings …

Lockdown Activities…

We’ve been involved in all sorts of activities since the lockdown including establishing a vegetable garden that’s growing great guns, cooking delicious food and John has been honing his leather making skills … now all we have to work out is how to make toilet paper and we will be right!! Lol

John’s leather saddle bag – he’s hoping to make more and sell through our little business label of Purple Sting

I’ve also prepared my boots for the next steampunk festival – unfortunately, the one we were to attend in April had to be cancelled because of the virus, although I will include pics from last year’s costume …

These boots should elevate my costume the next time we attend a Steampunk event
It was so fun to make the costumes for each of the days of the festival.
It’s all the added extras that matter when building the Steampunk costume.
How fun is the hat which I painted and decorated with tulle and trinkets ..

Thank you for joining me in my little corner of the web and I hope you’re finding things to occupy yourself during this tricky time!!

Oh thank you so much dear Lizzie!! It must be the angles!! Lol! I rarely wear jeans as they’re not really my feminine aesthetic and I just don’t find them comfortable at all!! These jeans were inexpensive and yet fit well and I don’t mind the way they look on – as long as I wear some heels because I do have short legs…
we are ok here, Australia has gotten off lightly in terms of cases and deaths but I worry about all those who have lost their jobs and so on!
      Lovely to hear from you!

You need to wear jeans more often Donna! They look amazing with the shirt and blazer. Love the theatrical Steam Punk too. You have put that outfit together so well xx

Thank you, Laurie, you’re very kind – I hoped they’d work with the shirt and blazer and it was comfortable and easy. I really love dressing up for the Steampunk festivals and look forward to more after all this passes … hope you’re well and safe over there!!
