Another Day, Another Dress … and new glasses!!

February 21, 2020

Getting Down To Business!!

I bought this pretty combination striped and bird print dress from our trip to Melbourne this time last year.

I’ve worn it a few times but this was the first time I was able to get some good pics of it.

It was a warm and very sunny day again so I had my brolly out to keep out of the sun!

Pretty Details and A Sweet Shape..

I like that this dress is a touch shorter for the summer and it’s a nice solid weight stretch cotton to make it really comfortable to wear.

It’s a shirt-waist dress with buttons from the nice stiff collar to the pretty tie waist.

I also love the turned back cuffs on the three-quarter sleeves and full skirt that isn’t too overwhelming and comes with nice, deep pockets.

The pale pink Mary-Jane shoes, sunnies and UV 50 sun protection brolly finished the look.

For Your Eyes Only!!

I’ve been having a few eye strain issues of late and decided to get some new prescription glasses ..

I went for two pairs of glasses that are fun shapes and came in handy while we were working on Purple Sting, our bee business.

We hope to be getting back down the farm in a couple of weeks to harvest some honey and we are preparing for our market research soon to follow – truly fun times,

It’s so good to be using my creativity and energy for what I love and for our own little business after so long of working for others with very little gratitude – the things we learn in a lifetime, hey?

I’m just so excited for the next chapter of my life!

Thank you for joining me in my little corner of the web!!

What a darling dress! And your floral umbrella practically disappears in that flowering bower you’re standing in!

Oh thank you for your kind comment, Bettye – it’s just so sunny I had to use the umbrella to get a reasonable pic!! It is a cute dress and it’s a style that I always enjoy wearing, no matter how old I get! Have a fabulous weekend! Donna πŸ§šπŸ»β€β™€οΈβ€οΈπŸ

We do love our dresses, don’t we haha! Your glasses are so cute! I love the cat eye! Also very intrigued about your bee business. I have a friend that has a honey business as well and it’s the neatest thing! Congrats!

Oh thank you, dear Lizzie – I am sorry I have not been in on your blog of late but I have been locked out of comments and most of the time out of the linkups too, which has been pretty annoying, so I really appreciate you coming in here and reaching out!! We’re very excited about Purple Sting and our honey business – we just want a life where we work with our planet and the life on it in a more positive, organic, sustainable and ethical way!! Thank you for taking the time to come in here!

Shirtwaist dresses are the absolute bee’s knees in my books. For the better part of two decades, vintage and vintage style versions were cornerstones of my wardrobe. I still love them dearly and own a few – which see ample wear in the sunny months in particular.

This stunner, with its elegant tie waist detail, is an especially wonderful example of a type of garment that I for one hope never goes out of production.

Your new glasses are absolutely gorgeous! I wear glasses, too, though aren’t wild about my current frames (which I got in early 2018, after about 11 years of having my previous frames). Or, to be more accurate, I like them in principal, but just not in photos of myself wearing them or when I catch my reflection in them out and about. No matter though, they do the job and as I don’t foresee getting new ones anytime soon, I’m happy to make do and give thanks that I have them. But enough about moi! These ones look tops on you and compliment this vintage inspired frock to a tee.

Oh thank you, Autumn!! I totally agree about the dress and have dressed in vintage style, as a part of my eclectic aesthetic most of my life! I hate having to wear glasses but have found they take the strain off when watching tv which is what I wear them for and of course the old reading glasses!! As you say, I am grateful to have them, and my dresses and the support of your good self in my life!! Enjoy the rest of your week, dear Autumn!! πŸ§šπŸ»β€β™€οΈβ€οΈπŸ
