Donna’s Recent Dressing..
I’ve said it before and I will say it again that my style is totally eclectic.
There seems to be no real rhyme or reason to what I love to wear and it can be tricky because sometimes I will plan a nice outfit to wear somewhere, wake up and completely change my mind and choose an entirely different outfit!!
Sometimes I’ve planned a 1950’s dress and yet have wound up wearing a boho outfit of pants and off-the-shoulder top.
My style is about my creativity and really is just a whole lot of fun that I don’t take at all seriously.
I just can’t buy the whole rules thing of this is how someone “classy” dresses or French women or older women don’t wear crazy, fun prints or any of the other bloody stupid, limiting rules – as I’ve said before I’m rapidly approaching the “grumpy old woman syndrome” and I’m totally okay with that!!
It was a crazy, hot day and so what could be better than a linen dress?
This one is off-white with a beige self-stripe – it’s a roomy dress and I tend to prefer a more fitted silhouette so popped on a belt in a raffia and paired it with espadrille sandals of a similar material and my little round bag.
I’ve been wearing my hair up a lot this summer – it’s just too hot to fiddle about with it long and whatever … of course sunnies are mandatory with such sunny days!!
Stripe Me Lucky!!
Another super hot day called for a sweet dress – this time it’s cotton and a bit more fitted.
This dress almost has a Spanish look to it’s uneven hem, feminine frills and flattering length.
I love the cross-over neckline and deep v-neck and I paired it with some simple heeled sandals and a seashell necklace and little pearly bracelets, and once again I put the hair up ..
Around The World!!
Speaking of crazy, way-out prints, well this is definitely a standout and is made from postcards from all around the world, thus the name of the dress!!
It’s made by an Australian designer, Retrospec’d and she does beautiful 1940’s and 1950’s styles and fabulous prints.
I wore this down at Eden and the weather was a bit cooler so hair was out and the little shrug had a place…
The sandals, the hair ribbon, the little handbag and bracelets completed the look!
So I hope you’ve enjoyed my little snapshot into my mixed-up eclectic fashion and I’d really like to hear your thoughts on this issue in the comments below and you can also follow me on Donnadoesdresses Instagram!!

Iβm having trouble writing comments on everyone elseβs blogs because technology hates me … also the linkups!! Maybe itβs a sign to give up the blog thing!! Have a great week!

February 7, 2020 at 7:56 pmThatβs so kind of you to say, Bettye!! As youβve said on some of your posts, Iβm trying to use whatβs in my wardrobe and consume less, but I couldnβt resist this dress and a couple of others because the little shop I got it from was having a huge sale and what would normally be over a hundred dollars was reduced to $20 ($10 USD) so I indulged!! Also this dress, and the others I purchased, can be worn loose – which is a thing here in Australia because itβs so hit and the style tends to be very relaxed … almost too relaxed!! Lol!! Have a great weekend, Bettye!

February 19, 2020 at 6:43 amGoodness, is mine ever, too! Even during the many years that I wore mid-century vintage attire almost exclusively, my style was eclectic, creative and multi-faceted. This mirrors my general approach to life and brings me so much joy! I’d personally be bored stiff if my wardrobe didn’t have multiple personalities, so to speak.
