Christmas and My December in the Southern Hemisphere!!
I’ve written before about how only 5% of the world’s population live in the Southern Hemisphere and of course my home, Australia, is part of that small group.
The culture here is very relaxed, mainly because of the warm climate which leads to a less intense lifestyle.
We spent Christmas up in Wollongong and the grown-up kids came for a visit – my daughter and her wife before and for Christmas Day and my son and his girlfriend after …
The weather is hot and we still have multiple bushfires burning all around the state of New South Wales, on the east coast of Australia with “catastrophic” conditions predicted as we progress into summer.
I’ve relented and decided to wear shorts for the first time in many a year – I’m just not going to keep thinking my legs aren’t good enough – I’m heading into the new year and decade with greater confidence and more of a devil may care attitude, so you can expect some sexy lingerie pics soon as a follow-up of my breast cancer reconstruction.
I’ve been surprised that I’ve embraced the kimono trend – this one is silk so perfect for the hot weather – but I’ve found it adds a certain something, something …
In Other News…
We went away for a few days to the tropical Fitzroy island, which is off the coast of Northern Queensland – it was truly beautiful!!
I wore a few old boho favourites:
We went on a sunset cruise on the catamaran behind me and Fitzroy Island is in The Great Barrier Reef and it’s just a gorgeous, low stress place to go … shame the reef is dying at an alarming rate …
We were very lucky to enjoy such a fabulous time away before the stress of Christmas, my birthday and the New Year.
I’m looking forward to the 2020s after a decade that really wasn’t the best and I wish to thank all of you for taking the time to read my little blog – I feel truly humbled and appreciative of every one of you!!

Oh gosh, that green floral dress is just to die for for Donna! I absolutely love it. I would be wearing as little as possible in that heat! Happy new year to you and I look forward to reading what you get up to in 2020 xx

Oh thank you for your kind wishes for the new year, Laurie!! Yes the heat is something you get used to but this recent weather is well beyond the pale!! It’s going to be 44°C in Sydney tomorrow – we are about an hour south of Sydney in Wollongong and it’s predicted to be 38°C and catastrophic bushfire conditions so we had to leave Eden which may be in the path of bushfires tomorrow… but our dumb government continues to be in denial about climate change or try to address it …
I love that green and pink dress too – very pretty!! I always enjoy your posts, Laurie, mine can be a bit dry …

Hi Donna. I’m from Across The Ditch. Good to know that you are well. Our country has been most concerned about yours with the fire storms. The land, the people, the wild life. Keep well and safe.
donnadoesdressesJanuary 10, 2020 at 11:34 pm
It is so good to hear from you and I appreciate your concern for me personally and for Australia in general. My crystal, Reiki and energy healer is also a New Zealander and there’s no doubt that we as a country need to engage in more of these practices and question our values ..
It seems our home is safe and we hope to return there on Wednesday. We will be looking at ways to assist with animal care for the injured creatures.
Again, thank you for your support and I hope we can keep in touch!!

I saw pictures from your holiday on the IG, and I think that you pretty much nailed the holiday looks. I like the white dress. Just perfect for the hot weather by the sea. I had the same dilemma about short before my holiday, but I was wearing them anyway. I know that my legs are far from perfect, but it was hot! o)))

Yess!! So hot and I’m getting the legs out – and you were someone who encouraged me to find my confidence and wear shorts!! Thank you for your kind comment and support, Anna!
