Styling a Trumpet Hem Black Dress! πŸ₯°πŸ™ŒπŸ€—πŸ‘

November 13, 2019

Black for a Dinner Date!

This very fitted black dress just couldn’t be passed up when I saw it on sale in a little boutique in Wollongong.

I try to avoid wearing black but it does work and wear well on my fair complexion.

With its wide v-neck, fitted shape and trumpet hem it’s definitely a Saturday night dress.

Strange Weather …

We have had very strange weather here on the south east coast of Australia, and at the time of writing we’ve had ‘Catastrophic’ warnings for bushfires up the coast from north of Sydney to the Queensland border and beyond, with many fires burning out of control.

Of course the other concern has been the ongoing drought – the worst since white settlement – so there’s issues with access to water because some of the towns have had to have water trucked in as they’ve run out of it!!

Anyway, it was cool on Saturday night so this long-sleeved number needed booties, fishnet stockings and a leather jacket even though we are near summer…

We are very remote in where we live in the hinterland of Eden – and we love that because the energy and space is open and uncluttered by buildings and people.

It does mean, however, that it’s always a bit of a trek when we go out for dinner as our favourite place to eat is in the nearby little seaside town of Merimbula – about 35 kilometres away, partly on pretty rough dirt roads! So it’s a bit of an adventure!

Actually, Merimbula is the furthest place you can see on the horizon behind me and behind the weather vein!

Pretty Little Details and Body Confidence!

I really love the special details of this dress.

My body-confidence is gradually returning following the breast reconstruction surgery and I’ve been given the all-clear to exercise although I’m still working to get my diet and energy levels back in balance – but it will come!

It there’s one thing I’ve learnt through this experience it’s to be more kind and patient with myself – for the first time in my life!

The dress has a sweet, deep frill on the neckline which continues down to the slim-fitted waist and the frill is repeated on the cuffs of the sleeves and the frilled hem on the trumpet skirt.

I added a simple bracelet, marquesite earrings and a chunky flower necklace.

Thank you for joining me in my little corner of the web!!

Oh why should we avoid black? It’s so stunning!

Not β€œwe” – me!! I find black boring and dull and like to reflect the vibrant colours of the beautiful bright country I live in so prefer to steer clear of black! I used to wear such dark colours in my work too so I’m glad to leave it behind and of course leave it for others, as I make no judgement about other people’s choices! Thank you for your thoughtful comment, Nancy!!
