Cropped Pants and Me!
I’ve not been one to wear cropped pants because I am vertically challenged and don’t like the fact that they seem to cut my already short legs down further. Although I usually buy “cropped” jeans because they fit me just where I want them to which is the ankle, as you can see here..
Earlier this year we went for a road trip interstate through Victoria, (you can read about the trip Here), eventually winding our way to Melbourne where I found these gorgeous paprika?! coloured, cropped, wide-legged linen pants during a shopping trip.
Short-Changed…
My Dad would’ve asked me where the rest of my pants were …
I’m not usually one for the latest trends, and this style is definitely a trend, but I was attracted by the bold bright colour and the high-waist paper-bag shape that I find with my relatively small waist does work well to flatter my shape.
I sized up in the pants so that they would be a little more slouchy and I like the roominess around the legs as we move into summer.
It’s All In The Proportions!!
It’s not about being something you’re not, but we all want to present our best selves and no matter whether tall or short or in between it’s good to look well proportioned and in balance.
I really think this outfit worked well to achieve exactly this as I had a number of people positively comment on it when I was out and about in it over the weekend, which was a welcome boost because it was the first time I’ve felt up to going out in so long!!
There are people who choose to wear this length of pant with a flat shoe or the latest canvas shoe craze but I am definitely not one of those people.
I feel that the pants would not look their best, and neither would I without the heeled sandals that I wore, because the extra elevation has given me the right sense of proportion – I also LOVE these animal print sandals so was happy to get another wear from them!
I still have a lot of swelling at the reconstruction and surrounding site and had to have a procedure during the week to relieve some of it so this loose white linen shirt tied at the waist was a welcome addition.
In line with my more is more approach I added my little cane cross-body bag, matching earrings, tortoiseshell sunnies and pretty orange and yellow jewelled cuff….
Thank you for joining me in my little corner of the web and I would love to hear from you in the comments below or leave a like or follow!! You can also see more of my outfits of the day in my donnadoesdresses Instagram …

October 25, 2019 at 11:57 pmThose pants are lovely and the color GORGEOUS! You’ve done such a nice job of managing the proportions of all the items you’re wearing, I don’t really even notice your height!
That alleyway is so charming! Is that your home?

October 26, 2019 at 12:04 amThank you for your very kind comment!! This is the only part of our decking that is not too sunny and bright in our apartment – where we are on the south east coast of Australia is very sunny all year round so itβs always hard to get decent pics!! Have a great weekend!

October 26, 2019 at 1:53 pmI have the same problem with pants. o)) If there is a possibility to buy 7/8 length, I know that this is actually my normal length and the pants don’t need any alteration. The pants has a beautiful color. Love them. I can see that you are enjoying the circle rattan bag as much as I do. o)

October 27, 2019 at 2:44 amHardly a predicament – itβs just that designers have very tall people in mind when they create.. first world problem and Iβm grateful just to have legs …
