Getting Edgy in a Striped Dress!!🥰🤔🤷‍♀️🙌

September 9, 2019

Burgundy and Stripes – what’s not to like?

I picked up this heavy cotton striped dress – pre-loved – at the beginning of the winter, and although I’ve worn it a few times I’ve not featured it here on the blog.

I do love my striped dresses and they can be found here https://donnadoesdresses.com/2019/03/23/stripes-for-saturday-dressing/

And there’s one here https://donnadoesdresses.com/2018/11/16/for-the-love-of-stripes-in-dresses😸🤗🤔/

You will notice that they are all horizontal stripes which is said to be unflattering to the figure – if one worries about such things!!

I’ve found that even though I’m petite and curvy, such striped dresses can look stylish without making me look like Benny the ball!

It’s in the width of the stripes – these stripes are not only variable in width but also in colour and so give the dress an interesting and edgy look.

Keeping the look fun…

I like to enjoy my clothing and part of that is changing the pairings of my outfits.

The burgundy leather jacket, burgundy lace tights and booties are my absolute favourite with this dress over the cooler months rather than boring black leather jacket, black opaque tights and black boots.

Black could be worn but why wear black when you can inject some colour? Read energy and pizzazz!!

I’ve read studies saying that not only does vibrant colour lift the mood of the wearer, but also that of those around them – and I’m all for lifting the mood!!

Changing the Vibe!!

I first wore this dress with my black beret, but once I found my beautiful burgundy Agent Carter hat in a little shop in Leura, a sweet village in The Blue Mountains west of Sydney, I converted to wearing it instead… although they probably both work!!

By the way, I strongly recommend watching Agent Carter, which is on Netflix.. oh, and getting to The Blue Mountains if you can, too!!

Print Mixing …

There’s no doubt I really need to extend my print mixing game, as it has become a very big trend of late.

For this outfit I’ve added a tartan scarf in the same colours as the dress and I think it works quite well – what do you think about mixing prints and patterns?

Final Touches…

The one thing I have truly loved this winter is wearing these fabulous burgundy booties – they were given to me by my son’s girlfriend because they were too small for her and I have loved wearing them every minute that I could!

I’ve also enjoyed these burgundy fingerless gloves for keeping my hands warm, protected from the sun and yet I’m still able to do things easily because my fingers aren’t restricted.

I added red/burgundy garnet earrings and my black lespecs sunnies …

Thank you for joining me in my little corner of the web and I’d love to hear your thoughts on the wearing of stripes, hats and print mixing in the comments below or leave a like or follow …
