Going all Ballerina …
I’ve been seeing tulle skirts around on Instagram and on blogs and thought I just have to get one of these skirts.
I always love wearing my tulle petticoats under my 1950’s retro dresses and with my Steampunk costumes, so I knew it would be my thing.
How right I was!!
I sourced the perfect skirt, that has the desired froth and fun without the bulk!
It’s All In the Styling…
I want to be able to wear this skirt and make that the occasion, rather than waiting for an occasion to wear the skirt, if that makes sense!
We are back up the coast in Wollongong so I took the skirt up to the mall for a test-run!!
I was literally stopped in the street and asked about the skirt … and not in a bad way!!
I made it comfortable and accessible for my afternoon out, that turned into a night out because we have Thursday Late Night shopping here until 9 (otherwise shops close at 5.30pm) and it was John’s birthday so we shopped, had drinks and ate some dinner out.
Some More About the Styling…
It was pretty warm in the afternoon but I knew it would cool down after the sun went down so I wanted to wear layers.
I’ve worn a grey, graphic t-shirt and added an old denim jacket I’ve had in the back of my wardrobe for a very long time!
I felt these toned well with the blue of the skirt – I particularly did not want a black skirt because I think it makes the look less accessible – although I may likely pair a black top/jacket/whatever with this skirt.
This jacket has real character with the way it curves down the back – unfortunately I don’t have pics of the back because I was having trouble photographing with it being so sunny and struggled to get these pics!!
I felt the fishnets, long cross necklace, snow leopard animal print belt, dragonfly earrings, quartz bracelet and grey heels were an interesting addition – it was definitely a more is more look!! Lol!
Thank you so much for joining me in my little corner of the web and I would love to hear your thoughts on tulle skirts, sunny weather or birthdays in the comments below, or come in on Instagram or like or follow!!
