Wearing colour not only lifts the spirits of the wearer but it also lifts the spirits of those around us.
One part of my eclectic style that always makes me feel good are my 1950’s style outfits – whether it’s because they’re just so particularly feminine or because there is a nostalgic feel to that time after the Second World War where there was a great sense of hope for an abundant and exciting future….. 🤷♀️
Whatever the case may be, I do love wearing such clothing and feel very comfortable in it – more than I do in jeans or a lot of contemporary fashion.
This is a colour that I simply don’t wear often enough.
I loved the way it made me feel because it’s just fabby and fun with this cute and kitschy cat print …
As we move towards warmer temperatures it’s good to be able to get back into my retro dresses and enjoy the feminine silhouette of the 1950’s.
Blue Skies, Sunshine and Fishnets…
It was a gorgeous sunny day but the breeze was a bit chilly.
The dress, by Voodoo Vixen, with its three-quarter sleeves and sweet sculpted neckline is ideal for the changeable weather.
I’m particularly enamoured with the neckline and how it sculpts around the neck, shoulders and back.
I stuck with neutral fishnet stockings so that the focus is on the actual dress rather than on one particular feature of the outfit!
Loving the Added Extras!
This very pretty dress comes with a fairly slim, black belt and yess!! It has pockets!! The cute sculpting pattern of the neck and sleeves continue as an edge around the pockets and give a neat finish to it.
I added black perforated, bowed gloves, a beret and a cropped leather jacket for a bit of extra warmth. I always need sunglasses outside here because it’s very bright and I would have no eyes in my photos without them!!
The blue suede shoes I’ve had for many years, and I felt they were quite a good match with the dress.
There’s a sweet little row of covered buttons down the middle of the front of the bodice that gives it that little something extra and the material is soft although a good weight to hold its shape.
I couldn’t resist wearing my white tulle petticoat underneath to complete the look.
