Winter Floral Dress – Pink Flowers On A Black Background!! πŸ§šπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŒΈπŸŒΊπŸŒ·

August 5, 2019

Let The Sun Shine In!!

So here in sunny Australia we are moving towards the end of winter … temperatures were up to the early 20’s Celsius today and I can’t say I’m sorry!

It made me get out this beautiful vintage parasol I picked up recently.

Having very fair skin and a strong family history of melanoma – my father died of it and three siblings have had large ones removed – I’m careful to keep out of the sun.

And let’s just say that in Australia that’s very difficult because where I live it is sunny over 300 days a year – good for the mood and fun times at the beach but hard on the complexion – not to forget that we have a depleted ozone layer over the southern part of Australia, believed to have been caused by the industry in the northern hemisphere.

All you can do is be as careful as possible, use sunscreeen, wear protective clothing and try to keep out of the sun from about 10 in the morning until about 4 in the afternoon to avoid the highest period of ultra violet radiation.

On With The Outfit!!

It was a bit warmer today so this long sleeved winter weight dress was fine for most of the day.

I like the black background on this heavy knit jersey dress because I think it gives it a nice wintery look and really makes the large pink floral print pop.

Pink isn’t a colour that suits me very well but wearing it in smaller doses works fine.

The long sleeves keep the dress looking and feeling cosy and the side ruching is good for some waist definition, which I always love!

The Added Extra…

I told you about the purchase of this parasol last week and my contact with a ‘Negative Nancy’ – you can read all about it here http://donnadoesdresses.com/2019/07/26/a-bit-of-retro-on-the-side-πŸ’―πŸ˜»πŸ€—πŸ€”/ and this has certainly not brought me bad luck!! Not only has it made its way into my home as a decorator item but I’m loving wearing it with my regular clothes, not just my steampunk for which I originally purchased it.

I also wore patterned black tights, heeled booties, my trusted, old catseye sunnies, cropped black leather jacket, my robot necklace and alien earrings because I love robots and aliens and wrapped this pink scarf around my neck for extra warmth, and to bring out the colours of the dress.

Thank you for joining me in my little corner of the web and have a great week!!

Thank you so much Nancy – me too, cosy but not too hot for our mild winter’s!! It’s a good way for me to wear the pale pink which doesn’t suit me well at all!!

Winters can’t be too severe down under

It gets pretty chilly in Tasmania – the most southern state near Antarctica – and stays hot in the top end of Queensland and the Northern Territory because they’re states closer to the equator but Wollongong is about 75 kilometres south of Sydney and has a beautiful climate and even though Eden is much further south at 500 kilometres south of Sydney, it’s still fairly mild because it’s right on the coast of the South Pacific Ocean so New South Wales is pretty nice … there’s a geography lesson for you, The Tom! Lol! Enjoy the rest of your week!!

Such great lighting in these pictures and such a marvelous backdrop Donna, of course you are looking beautiful in that printed dress.
There will always be negative Nancys, I think that an umbrella opened in doors cannot bring bad luck, its actually great decor.

Great outfit! The parasol just adds that extra touch while being functional! Here in the US I think most of us are starting to count the days till it gets cooler so it is always fun to see what you all are wearing in Australia!
