When Only A Suit Will Do …
There are a lot of pictures in this post, all without any filters at all, but I think they’re worth a look!!
In case you missed my post earlier this week, I will update you on the wonderful weekend we just had celebrating the heritage of the little coal mining town of Lithgow, west of Sydney in The Blue Mountains.
Lithgow has the Ironfest each year, following ANZAC Day, where it celebrates all things associated with the heyday of iron, mechanics and military.
For my costume on Day Two, I opted for a black velvet skirt and jacket suit…
Elementary, My Dear!!
I retained the elements of steampunk dress, wearing solid boots, the pleather waistcoat, my bejewelled necklace, lace fingerless gloves, umbrella, little purse, goggles, and of course the obligatory hat – although I changed the decoration of it, making it a tad simpler…
Like the long velvet dress I wore yesterday, I already had this long fishtail skirt and frilled-edge jacket in my wardrobe, so it was great to be able to put them to good use!!
The Steampunk era embraces the excitement of the time of great scientific and engineering developments with nineteenth century fashion, making the whole look so much fun!!
Undercover Details!
Of course, I have to show you how I built this costume from the inside out so you can see where I get my confidence in presentation.
I went for a completely different look from Day 1 and opted for a bodysuit in black and skin tone, ripped tights, a single, fine long tulle petticoat and corset…
Bringing It Together …
I loved to see the way the costume came together throughout each stage, once again I pulled up the side of the skirt with large pins …
What A Difference A Year Makes!!
It’s hard to believe that this time last year I was facing the first of three operations for my breast cancer.
I’m glad I made it through that time and choose to enjoy and celebrate the joys of life’s experiences as often as possible and this weekend was one such joy!!
These are pictures from the Ironfest:
Thank you for joining me in my little corner of the web and I’d love to hear from you in the comments or leave a like or follow…
