Warning!! These are pictures of me in my lingerie so if this offends stop reading now…
From the Inside Out!!
I want to show how I’m building my costume for the upcoming Ironfest in Lithgow, in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney next month.
Lithgow is a coal mining town and to acknowledge this, once a year they have a festival, and we have decided to attend wearing a SteamPunk costume.
SteamPunk costume is a Victorian bent – with a twist!!
I am preparing two different costumes.
One requires a petticoat, while the other does not.
They both require a corset under the clothing to ensure that it fits smoothly and also effectively shows off the waistline.
Corseted Up:
I’ve had this corset and petticoat for ever, literally since 19 freezing cold because I often used to dress in retro and medieval outfits as part of my work and used to go to events where one could dress like this fairly frequently – this is before it was fashionable..
The corset is only loosely laced here for my dress rehearsal, lol, but you get the idea.
I’ve worn my @pleasurestate bra and panties because both of the bodices of my outfits are cut wide.
Getting Comfortable:
I also wear my corset, at times, under my regular clothing.
I’m frequently asked, “But isn’t it uncomfortable?” Or “Can you sit in it?” And for me it is yes to both of those questions.
I lace it so that I’m comfortable – I have a naturally small and squishy waist, it seems, and I actually enjoy fitted, tighter clothing so it’s fine for me and yes even though I’m older I persist in wearing such things!!
The Details so far …
I tried this mini-hat but wasn’t blown away by it so I have since ordered a cute hat from the USA, hopefully it gets here in time!
I will likely add some tulle, lace and such to it.
I also have some sweet jewellery to add, my ankle boots and some lacy stockings or tights in keeping with the period – so still plenty to come!
I’m going to wear my hair messy, long and big!!
Thank you for joining me in my little corner of the web, and I will update you on the costume as more comes to hand!!
I’d love to hear what you think about dressing up and costumes in the comments below or leave a like or follow,
