I’m excited this week to be co-hosting the Fabulous Friday link-up with the delightful Jennie of A Pocketful of Polka Dots. It would be so great for you to join our link-up party and see who else is there. There’s also a chance you will be selected and shared next week as a favourite blogger!
Without further ado I will get on with sharing my ideas on wearing separates …
Wearing the kimono trend:
Doubtless, trends are a fun way to keep our look fresh.
I am wary, as a “mature” woman (and I use that term loosely) to not get too carried away with the latest and greatest trends and sometimes I just like a little taster.
I’ve been excited to incorporate the kimono look in my wardrobe, and when I found this cute moss/sage green with red poppies silk top, I was sold.
I’ve worn this top with this sand colour skirt as well as pants in black, beige or denim.
I think it would work well with a red skirt and shoes too … that might be for another day!
It’s all in the details:
A simple top this is not, with a flattering v-neck that isn’t too low, but is low enough!
I love the detailed dolman sleeves which are feminine and pretty, allowing for comfort, movement and coverage.
The peplum beneath the waist and this little bow does wonders for the waistline:
Who doesn’t like a surprise?
Finally, there’s the sweet little split in the back of the top:
Now, we are in spring here in Australia, and this will be a great addition as we head into summer, but I’m thinking it would also be fine for autumn, paired with a cute little denim or light leather jacket!
This back split does present its underwear challenges, but with some clever manoeuvring something can be arranged…
Changing up the look:
I am very conscious of the well-being of our planet and excess, in general, so when I bought this little top I was keen to be able to maximise the wear out of it and be able to dress it up:
Or dress it down:
The Bottom Line:
I hope you’ve enjoyed my discussion here about wearing a new trend, cute top several different ways and I’d love to hear your thoughts on it and similar things.
I’m so excited to be linking up today with Jennie of a Pocketful of Polka Dots for her Fabulous Friday:
Meet your host for Fabulous Friday, Jennie of A Pocketful of Polka Dots. βΌ Hey y’all, I’m Jennie and I am a 48 year old frugal fashionista! I am mom to two wonderful (and handsome!) sons and Glamma to one very spoiled Pitsky. After spending most of my life in black and boring clothes, I now enjoy trying new trends, am a confessed shoeaholic, believe life is too short for boring hair, and never met a polka dot I didn’t like. I am also an avid photographer, reader of Jane Austen, Paleo/Primal enthusiast, and lover of DIY. You can follow me here βΌ

Jennie and I have each picked our favourite looks from last week’s Fabulous Friday Linkup.
You can see Jennie’s by heading to a Pocketful of Polka Dots, and my choice is Sarah from FoxysDomesticSide who has teamed a beautifully-coloured and feminine dress with cute booties. Booties are always a winner in my book and I love them with bare legs or with tights! I think Sarah wears them wonderfully and looks great in them!
