Dealing with life’s tough questions right here!
It seems that everywhere you look in winter you see people dressed in black, or at least dreary, dull colours, but really there’s no reason for it – or is there?
Are there not the bright colours available in winter or is it just that we gravitate towards the dull, dark colours?
I have to say that where I live in Wollongong the winter’s are very mild indeed and so I was easily able to wear this:
The large check pattern dress is in a fairly light weight fabric and has the current trend bell sleeves, giving it a feminine look. It’s a bit shorter than I usually prefer and here I teamed it with navy tights, booties, military jacket and a red scarf to lift things, but it would look great with red tights and booties and leather jacket.
While this is a more casual look, it’s also fun to wear something bright heading out to lunch:
This beautiful coral colour just lifted the whole day and everything seemed a lot sunnier wearing this baby, I can tell you! Once again, I went for edgy booties, a scarf and my old cross-body bag …
A beautiful red dress teamed with black certainly brightened up a winter’s day and this light wool fabric makes this snuggly and comfortable.
Of course, there’s more red, because red is my favourite colour:
This time I’m wearing a thicker red “bandage-style” skirt with a patterned top, leather jacket, tights and booties. This is a bright, warm and contemporary look, with red being a hot trend for this year.
And if you’re still not convinced about the strength in colour, well then maybe this will change your mind:
This little dress is the epitome of bright!!
Red and cobalt! Crazy isn’t it? I’ve also worn this dress with red tights, red booties and a red scarf, but I just love this combination so much!
More red … and this time it’s with purple, although I’ve worn this dress with navy tights, booties and jacket/s for a more subdued look, although today we are talking about being NOT subdued!
Proof that I wear other colours in winter too! How gorgeous is this green? This is a soft wool and fits like a dream for a nice dinner out.
This dress can be dressed up or down with a long formal coat with big, bright gold buttons or a chic three quarter coat or a cute cropped leather jacket, again with my usual heeled booties and tights because I do like an edgier look.
Hopefully, you’ve been convinced to try wearing bright colours, even in winter.
Studies show that colours impact our mood and can even help to deal with winter sadness, so why not give it a go?
I can honestly say that every time I wear my brights I get lovely positive comments and I love that!
It would be great to hear from you and hear what you think about wearing brights in winter in the comments below, or leave a like or follow for more fashion, food and lifestyle conversations,

August 6, 2018 at 3:15 amIโm finding that because of my job I tend to wear darker colours all throughout the year. I donโt know why I feel I should blend into a background these days – food for thought there ๐

August 6, 2018 at 4:18 amAs I so often say, wear what u feel is best for u and your purposes, although the colour is available to lift your mood if thatโs something you are interested in doing. Thank u for giving thought to what Iโve raised here .. ๐บ๐๐ผโค๏ธ

January 26, 2019 at 9:33 pmYes, rich green! Whenever I wear green, people think Iโm Irish. I guess thatโs why I like Baileys Irish Creme!

January 26, 2019 at 9:48 pmI can see why as you seem to have similar colouring!! Plus people associate green with the Irish! My grandmother was Irish .. Donna ๐ง๐ปโโ๏ธโค๏ธ๐
